LONDON, UK, May 2018 – SecureData, the UK’s largest independent cybersecurity consultancy, today announced the launch of its new Next Generation Endpoint Security Service. The solution aims to remove the complexity of device management and take away the burden of security from internal IT teams, allowing them to focus on business-critical tasks.
With the latest cybersecurity attacks, it has become evident that the endpoint has become the latest battleground, rather than the perimeter. Desktops and mobile devices face increasingly complex and numerous attacks by malicious software (malware) authors attempting to gain an entry point into the network to steal data or, through ransomware, for financial benefit. Recent research by SecureData’s elite consulting arm, SensePost, found that exploiting features within common Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Excel’s DDE feature, have close to 100% success rate.
Most businesses don’t have enough internal resources, time or skills to granularly configure and manage specialist security devices, maintain patching levels, perform ongoing policy reconfiguration or investigate and respond to numerous device-status alerts.
SecureData’s fully managed Next Generation Endpoint Security removes the complexity of continuous rule-base management. By monitoring and managing the endpoint-management server or appliance, the solutions offer businesses peace of mind that endpoints are under constant supervision and have fully updated malware detection mechanisms in place. Increased visibility into user behaviour and protection against email attachment and web-based attacks reduces the risk of infection by zero-day malware.
The service is offered in three models:
- AffinitySUPPORT: service desk assistance to internal IT teams with advice and guidance on how to best configure and maintain security devices
- AffinityMONITOR: includes the monitoring of system-health alarms and weekly off-site backups of device configurations
- AffinityMANAGED: a fully managed, premium service. Contract dependant, a Technical Account Guardian supervises the ongoing health and security of the managed devices, recommending patching protocols, annual health reviews, and risk- and impact-assessed change management
“In the past, it was difficult for cyber-criminals to monetise desktops and other devices. However, with the average ransomware campaign netting criminals roughly $300,000, it’s evident that criminals are adapting. The security industry needs to as well,” says Michél Béchard, Services and Products Manager at SecureData. “Investing in securing networking infrastructure is no longer enough. Organisations need to focus on their most vulnerable endpoints: their employees’ desktops and devices, but not everyone has the necessary time or expertise to carry this out. Now, customers can take full advantage of SecureData’s expertise in all things system-health and system monitoring.”
The AFFINITY suite of services will be available to customers through SecureData directly and through its extensive network of channel partners.
